Message from Karen Boswell, Secretary for Tri-State Council

Hello Everyone,

It’s time for your skating club to join the Tri-State Council of Figure Skating Clubs. If your club has not been a member, this is the year to discover how the Tri-State interclub council helps support skaters and your club.

Tri-States every year holds 2 competitions. One is a Freeskating and the other is Synchronized. Here are the two competitions, dates, and locations.

Click here for the link to the details of the 2 Competitions

Tri-State is involved in some wonderful projects that will benefit your club:

• Monies for skaters qualifying for National Competitions.

Provide merit awards to officials who are members of member clubs.

Annual Tri-State Meeting the first weekend in June. More details will be coming.

Rental Access to Tri-State Music Equipment for your competitions.

Reserve the delightful Snow Plow Sam suit for your own events and competitions for FREE. Snow Plow Sam is clean and will be shelved until it is Covid safe for use at events.

  • Periodically we hold Club Ed Seminars and we will reimburse the cost of the seminar for members of member clubs who attend.

Music ! Music ! Music !

TriState Delegates and Club Officers,

Have anyone in your club with interest in music?  Bill Goen is always looking for people interested in becoming USFS Music Techs.

Music officials are responsible for the setup, tear down and operation of the equipment used to play music at competitions. Requirements for the role include a basic knowledge of audio equipment, basic knowledge of figure skating competitions and their protocols, basic operational knowledge of computers and the ability to work as part of a team.

Volunteers can serve as music officials at nonqualifying competitions without being certified as an official U.S. Figure Skating music technician.

These skills can be learned by attending the training class and working with current music coordinators. Bill may be reached at 734 612 4169 or at billgoen@gmail.com

About Tri-States

The Tri-States Council of Figure Skating Clubs is comprised of various figure skating clubs located in the states of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and, as of 1999, Western Pennsylvania.

The Tri-States Council is one of twenty-eight InterClub Councils now recognized by the USFSA and was one of the pioneers in establishing this type of organization. Interchange of ideas and vital figure skating information between the various clubs in this defined area is the prime purpose of our organization, and the Council meets annually to accomplish this purpose.

Today is a GREAT day to Join!
